The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in Goa today saw its executive members expressing differences over conduct of its state president Surendra Sirsat.

The party spokesperson Trojano D’Mello, in a letter to Sirsat had said that he was not taking the executive committee into confidence. The letter got leaked to the media.

The party’s state general secretary Rajan Ghate, however, has ridiculed D’Mello’s charges.

"It’s unfortunate that senior leaders like Trojano D’Mello has disclosed content of their confidential letter addressed to party president Surendra Sirsat," Ghate said in a press note released today.

The party is facing a political turmoil after two of its ministers, Jose Philip D’Souza and Nilkant Halarnkar, refused to quit from Digamber Kamat cabinet despite being directed by the party president Sharad Pawar.

D’Mello, a close associate of Halarnkar, had written the letter to Sirsat claiming that he was not taking the executive committee into confidence and leaked it to some mediapersons.

"This act (of disclosing the content of letter) is ridiculous and uncalled for which aims at cheap publicity and not in the larger interest of NCP in any way," Ghate has said adding any such attempts to malign party image would be dealt with seriously.
