Emphasing on the need for carrying on the process of dialogue with Pakistan, India today expressed the hope that talks will resume in the first quarter of 2011.

"I have invited Pakistani foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi to visit India. He has accepted my invitation. The talks were to take place at the end of this year... We are hopeful it will happen in the first quarter of 2011," external affairs minister SM Krishna told reporters in reply to a question.

Krishna said the dialogue with the neighbouring country should continue.

"As I have repeatedly said, India believes that dialogue and continuation of talks that were initiated by me in Islamabad will have to be carried on," he said.

The minister said the talks in Islamabad had remained "inconclusive" and there was a need to start the process again soon.
