In a shocking incident, a youth who was detained by the Sardarnagar police for last six days allegedly tried to commit suicide inside the police station on Sunday afternoon.

According to Sardarnagar police sources around six days back, Sardarnagar police had detained seven people on charges of theft that had taken place in a house located in the area.

Sources said that on Sunday afternoon, one of the detainees, identified as Vipul Bharwad, 19, a resident of Bhilwas in Sardarnagar on the pretext of answering nature's call went to the toilet in the police station where he allegedly tried to commit suicide by cutting his nerves with a bottle which was kept in the dustbin.

When Bharwad didn't return even after a long time, police entered the toilet only to find him lying in a pool of blood. He was rushed to the Civil hospital, where his condition is stated to be critical. Sardarnagar police station PI, BM Joshi, however, said that such type of modus operandi is generally employed by criminals only to pressurise the cops. "Police had brought Bharwad on Saturday as they had information the accused was involved in few theft cases," Joshi said.
