The tragic incident where Varsha Ramani strangulated her two children before killing herself by cutting her wrist has brought to fore the issue of depression among married women.

Psychologists blame this on bad 'marriage management'.
They say couples are no more tolerant and are not willing to work on their problems.

Explaining the causes of depression in married women Dr Prashant Bhimani, consulting psychologist told DNA that in most cases couples fail to understand each others needs and requirements.

"Over a period of time an emotional distance is created leading to conflicts. This is a major cause of depression among married women. It is nothing but bad marriage management," he said. Varsha in her suicide note had mentioned that she was not able to satisfy her husband.

"This indicates sexual tension in the relationship. For a woman, sex is not just a physical act but also about emotions and understanding," said sexologist Dr Mrugesh Vaishnav.
