Dense fog affects 70 trains

With no respite from dense fog, nearly 70 trains were affected today causing much inconvenience to passengers.

As many as 30 trains coming from Orissa, Bihar, West Bengal, Assam and other parts of the country are running several hours late.

While Jalianwala Bagh Express was running 20 hours late, Jansadharan Express and Magadh Express were late by 13 hours and seven hours late respectively.

Railways have fully cancelled 24 trains and partially cancelled 12 trains due to the foggy weather condition, said a Northern Railway spokesperson.

Admitting inconvenience to passengers due to late running of trains, he said the dense fog has reduced the visibility and as a result it is becoming difficult for loco pilot to run trains at the normal speed.

He stressed that passengers' safety is the main concern for railways so the train speed would be restricted during the foggy weather.
