Delhi Police may appeal to traders and other offices to close their enterprises on the closing day of Commonwealth Games.

City Police Commissioner YS Dadwal said the closing ceremony falls on a Thursday and offices can switch their Saturday-offs to that day.

Similarly, police may also ask traders to close their shops on the same day and do business on another day.

"We will see a lot of rush on these days. We will appeal that offices and shops remain closed on that day," he told reporters here.

He said the city police will also go on a publicity campaign asking residents to use Metro services as well as other public transport systems.

"To host such an event is a pride and we need the support of the people to make it a big event," Dadwal said.

Asked whether a shortage of personnel is hampering its efforts, he said, "whatever we need, it is being catered to."

He noted that Delhi Police has a strength of 83,735 and another 6,000 constables will join the force in December this year and another 6,500 in June next year.
