As part of efforts to put in place an efficient transportation system ahead of next year's Commonwealth Games, Delhi Government today started a skill development programme for around 1,500 DTC bus drivers and conductors to train them on better manners and safe driving.

Inaugurating the training programme, Delhi Transport Minister Arvinder Singh said that skill training programme for drivers and conductors has been developed in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII).

A total of 1,500 drivers and conductors have been selected for the 40-day long first phase of communication and skill training programme, which includes a basic course in English. Singh said that the internal training module would be useful for drivers and conductors of DTC to adopt better manners during the Commonwealth Games.

"The training programme will also focus on an efficient transportation system in capital city. We are determined to put in place a world class transport infrastructure and a system that adheres to global practices in terms of their user friendliness, safety, efficiency and sustainability," he said.
