With the first dengue case already reported in Delhi, MCD will start checking mosquito breeding in the city from April 1, earlier than usual.

The civic body's domestic mosquito breeding checkers will swing into action earlier than last year after dengue cases have been reported much before the onset of monsoon.

Last year, the first case of dengue was reported in June while this year, the city had its first dengue case with the onset of early summer.

"This year, instead of starting the work in May, domestic breeding checkers will begin their work from April 1. Our checkers will go to each house and check mosquito breeding," an MCD official said.

The national capital's first case of dengue of the year has been reported from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences. A doctor at the institute has tested positive for dengue, becoming the first case of the vector-borne disease here this year.
