The court of city civil judge PH Patel has ordered a stay on allotment of ground at Maninagar Vyamshala by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) to a commercial garba performing organisation.

The court has, meanwhile, directed the Maa Durga Charitable Trust, Maninagar, which had approached the court against the AMC's decision, to carry on with its puja in the area.

According to case details, the Maa Durga Charitable Trust, Maninagar has been performing Durga Puja at Maninagar Vyamshala, opposite LG Hospital for the last 36 years.  Every year two months before the puja, the trust approached the AMC authorities for permission to organise the event and even paid a token amount for the same.

However, this year the AMC allotted the ground to a garba performing organisation by passing a resolution some four months ago. The AMC did not consult or intimate the governing body of the trust.
