In a veiled attack against Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati, Yoga guru Baba Ramdev today said the country's wealth should be spent for welfare of the poor and not for making garlands of "materialist politicians".

"Country's wealth should be used for the welfare of Dalits and the poor and should not be used for making garlands for decorating materialist politicians," he said here.

During a rally in Lucknow yesterday, the BSP chief was presented a huge garland made of Rs 1000 notes allegedly worth of Rs10 to Rs15 crores.

"My comment is for materialistic people, who consider themselves materialistic and instead of spending wealth for the welfare of the poor and Dalits, spend it on themselves," Ramdev said adding that his remarks were not aimed at the UP chief minister.
