Country liquor shop salesman shot dead by suspected Maoists in Orissa

A salesman of a licensed country liquor shop was gunned down by suspected Maoists at Balishankar in Orissa's Sundargarh district, about 120km from Rourkela, police sources said today.

The suspected Maoists, numbering five, went to the shop and demanded that liquor be served to them yesterday.

When 28-year-old salesman, Anuj Gupta, sought payment he was shot by them and bombs were hurled at the shop.

They left behind a poster claiming themselves to be members of 'Mazdoor Trishul Manch', a newly formed group of Maoists in Sundargarh district neighbouring Jharkhand.

Senior police officers including, SP Sundargarh, Deepak Kumar visited the spot.

The sources said the killers might have fled to Jharkhand or Chhatisgarh.
