“There are thousands of people who get attacked and injured on daily basis. We cannot register complaints of each and everyone,” asserted a vexed senior police inspector SD Patel posted at the Sabarmati police station.

What was astonishing was the fact that the police had failed to even record a complaint of assault on a group of people which sustained severe head injuries.

Four of the victims have been admitted to a private hospital.
The incident occurred when a group of people attacked another group of people violently with iron pipes and rods at Sabarmati area on Wednesday night.

Even though police claim that a formal complaint has been recorded, victim Geeta Patani told DNA that cops refused to register her complaint. “We have been continuously contacting the police and even sent our advocate to the police station, but so far no cop has even asked for my signature,” she said.

Patani further said that the people who attacked her and her family members, even threatened them to kill if they are seen on the roads. “We were attacked at our house and were shifted to private hospitals in 108 ambulances,” she said.

“We informed the police, but no one came forward to register a formal complaint.”

Police inspector Patel was not aware about a police complaint sent to his senior officers, including DGP and commissioner of police. “I am not aware about any such incident,” he told DNA.
