The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Delhi police nabbed one Vasant Rathod, who was working as a driver here, in connection with the Ashok Jadeja cash scam.

According to sources, EOW had sent a letter to the CID (Crime) here, saying that Rathod was wanted in Delhi in connection with the scam, as they had received about 200 applications, wherein Rathod was said to have duped people.

In the letter, EOW had said that the accused was needed as he was absconding from Delhi and many applications seeking his arrest were pending with the investigating agency.

“The victims of the scam, who are residents of Delhi, have filed complaints with the EOW against Rathod for cheating them,” sources said. The State CID (crime) allegedly sent a reply to the EOW, saying that although raids had been conducted at the house of Rathod and his other hideouts, he was not found. They also said that Rathod had resigned his job and left the place.

Sleuths from the EOW, however, came to the city and nabbed Rathod from his employer’s premises.

Sources said that EOW sleuths took Rathod to Delhi after they obtained transit remand from a local court here.  Meanwhile, the scam kingpin, Ashok Jadeja, is learnt to have divulged, during his narco-analysis test, details of assets and investments acquired from the scam money.

]The scam is supposed to be to the tune of Rs1,600 crores, according to sources. The psychological tests carried out on Jadeja had also revealed that he had a mind that was disposed towards white collar crimes.
