Congress on Monday announced that it will launch its poll campaign for Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections with a rally in Kangra district this month.

The rally, whose date is yet to be decided, will be addressed by Union Minister Virbhadra Singh and party leaders Virender Choudhary and KS Thakur, senior vice president of party's state unit Chander Kumar said.

Alleging that the present BJP government in the state was plagued by corruption, Kumar said it would be "thrown out" of power by Himachali voters in the Assembly elections scheduled later this year.

He said the defected leaders of BJP themselves were unearthing scandals. The land, mine and liquor mafias were in full swing during the rule of PK Dhumal led government, Kumar alleged.
