In a bid to win the support of Goa church for the next month's assembly election, Congress today said it shared the concerns of Council for Social Justice and Peace, a church-backed institution.

"Congress Government has always been inspired by the efforts of CSJP in bettering Goa," Altinho Gomes, General Secretary, Goa Congress, said in a press release here.

CSJP has made various demands ahead of the March 3 polls, which include framing of land-use plan (regional plan) as per the wishes of the people.

Gomes said that with regard to CSJP's concerns about Regional Plan 2021, Congress Party had stressed that its stand would be in accordance with gram sabhas. "We have not taken a final decision, and will be taking the plan back to gram sabhas and people before finalising it," he said.

The plan has faced a lot of criticism.
