Madhya Pradesh Congress today sought the resignation of State chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and some of his cabinet colleagues facing probes by the Lokayukta.

State Congress president, Suresh Pachouri told reporters that the chief minister and his cabinet colleagues who were facing Lokayukta inquiry on corruption issue, should resign on moral grounds.

He was talking to reporters here after launching a signature campaign against corruption under the BJP government in the state.

He said that the chief minister was not only facing corruption charge over dumper purchase issue, but the Lokayukta had already registered a case against him.

In an indirect reference to the State Industries minister, Kailash Vijaywargia, Pachouri said that corruption has assumed such serious proportions that a court had to order a Lokayutka inquiry into the matter.

He said that unless the chief minister and his cabinet colleagues facing corruptio charges resign a free and impartial inquiry may not be possible by the Lokayukta as state government officials work on deputation with it.

Pachouri also said that the chief minister should give up preaching and instead concentrate on doing some constructive and good work.
