Opposition Congress today described the two years of the BJP government in Himachal Pradesh as "disappointing" and asked chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal to
stop blaming the UPA government at the Centre to "cover up its own failure."

"I do not know why the BJP is going gaga over completion of two years in power in the hill state...the period has been in fact marked with all round failure of Prem Kumar Dhumal ministry," state Congress president Kaul Singh Thakur told reporters here.

Thakur charged the BJP government of spending huge sum of money from government coffers to celebrate the completion of two years of government through functions yesterday.

The HPPCC chief, accompanied by state party general secretaries Asha Kumari and Kuldeep Rathore, alleged that the government was promoting educational shops in the state in the name of making it an "educational hub".

Thakur lashed at chief minister Dhumal for criticizing the UPA government at the Centre for everything mainly to "cover up his own failures."

Making a comparison between the UPA and the NDA, he said while the NDA government from 1998 to 2004 had provided Rs13,000 crore to HP by way of developmental funds, the Congress-led UPA government gave Rs25,000 crore to the hill state from 2004-2009.

"Dhumal government is running on the crutches of the Centre," he added.
