Questioning the 'delay' in holding elections to Panchayat bodies, the Congress in Karnataka today said it proposed to move the court to direct the state government to hold elections immediately.

Addressing reporters, KPCC president R V Deshpande today alleged that as per the constitution, elections should he held well before end of five years, but the BJP government had instead apppointed administrators instead of holding polls.

The government and state Election Commission, while pleading for postponing the civic polls, had expressed their preparedness to hold polls to panchayat bodies, he claimed.

He also demanded that BJP government drop Tourism Minister Janardhana Reddy from the cabinet following allegations that he was evading arrest in a mining land encroachment case.

The court had issued non bailable warrant in a case relating to a complaint filed by one T Narayana Reddy in 2006 against
the Obulapuram Mining Company owned by Reddy and brother and Revenue Minister Karunakara Reddy. The court had rejected the plea for warrant withdrawal.

Deshpande demanded that either the NBW should be cancelled or Reddy be arrested or dropped from the cabinet.
