At least two persons were detained in Jharkhand's East Singhbhum district, bordering West Bengal, as police forces of the two states moved through treacherous terrains in continuing joint anti-Maoist operation today.
"Two-three persons have been detained at Basadera under Ghatsilla police station during the anti-Maoist operation, and the security men are questioning them," a senior police officer told PTI on phone.
He said the security personnel from the two states continued the joint operations in difficult terrains looking for Maoist camps and their hideouts.
With the help of the security men, the villagers of Dayanmari in Ghatsilla recovered articles looted by the Maoists from the house of one Bidu Banra, who was killed by the Naxals last week.
"The villagers themselves accompanied the securitymen and found the articles looted by the Maoists from Banra's house. Banra had been stabbed to death by the Maoists, who accused him of mixing drug in their food to later lynch them," the officer said.
The apprehension was caused by a similar incident at Lango in East Singhbhum seven years ago when 11 Maoists had been lynched after being drugged.
