Cold condition intensifies in Punjab, Haryana

Cold conditions intensified in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh today with minimum temperatures recording a drop of upto two degrees Celsius at several place  in the region.
   
Besides, several parts in Ambala, Chandigarh, Sirsa and Bathinda were engulfed with mist or fog in the morning reducing visibility and making it difficult for motorists to drive.
   
The minimum temperatures in most parts of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh hovered between two degrees Celsius below normal to four notches above normal, the MET office said here.
   
In the plains of Punjab and Haryana, Rohtak was the coldest place with a low of 6.2 degrees Celsius, which was one notch below normal, followed by 6.4 degrees Celsius at Amritsar, one notch above normal.
   
Among the other places, Ambala braved a minimum temperature of 6.5 degrees Celsius, Karnal settled at a low of 7.2 degrees Celsius, which was two notches below normal, Patiala had a low of 7.5 degrees Celsius.
   
While, Chandigarh had a low of 8.4 degrees Celsius, one notch above normal, the minimum temperature at Ludhiana was 8.6 degrees Celsius, which was two notches above normal.
   
Hisar had a low of 10.8 degrees Celsius, which was four notches above normal, whereas Bhiwani in Haryana settled at a low of 8.4 degrees Celsius.
