City pulls classical strings with Sangeet Saptah

Classical music is in the air. For, Saptak has announced the 14th Sangeet Sankalp Saptah 2009, a week-long classical music programme from October 2 to October 9 at Gajjar Hall.

Classical music is in the air. For, Saptak has announced the 14th Sangeet Sankalp Saptah 2009, a week-long classical music programme from October 2 to October 9 at Gajjar Hall. This programme is different from the annual music festival organised by Saptak.

The Sangeet Sankalp Saptah is a unique experience, with the evening performance being opened by an emerging talent. With several luminaries in its audience, the event provides a grand stage for young performers. The festival is organised to showcase and promote emerging talents, apart from performance by accomplished, senior gurus.

In a celebration of music at its purest form, the event attracted music lovers from across the state. The performers put forth their best performance leaving the audience mesmerised. What makes the annual fare a memorable one is that it provides a rich bouquet of experience.

The classical instruments to be played at this festival include flute, violin, tabla, harmonium, sitar, sarangi and the sarod.Sangeet Sankalp is an organisation of dedicated musicians. Established in 1989 with its national headquarters in Delhi, it has 104 branches all over the country. This programme is being organised by the Ahmedabad branch of Sangeet Sankalp along with with Saptak and has been sponsored by Tata Steel Ltd.

Sangeet Sankalp endeavours to provide a platform to young promising artists and some erudite artists who are more comfortable performing before a small audience of knowledgeable listeners. The programme is scheduled to begin at 8.45 pm every day.
