Home minister P Chidambaram will highlight the scourge of terrorism and its global dimension at a special session of World Economic Forum meeting in Davos beginning next week.
Chidambaram will initiate the session, "The Reality of Terrorism", ten years after the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Centre in New York, and deliberate upon how terrorist methods and threats have evolved.
The January 26-30 annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos will see participation by 2,500 representatives of over 100 countries.
The January 27 discussion will include the risks and incubators of terrorism since 9/11, countering terrorism's narrative and risk response and resilience.
Apart from the Home Minister, those who will attend the special session include former Pakistan cricket captain and chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan, professor of strategy at the US National War College Audrey Kurth Cronin and founder, Minhaj-ul-Quran International, UK, Muhammad Tahir-Ul-Qadri.
Chidambaram, will also participate in two other sessions -- "Governing One-sixth of the World's Citizens" and "India's Inclusive Growth" on January 29.
In the first session, he will talk about India -- the second most populous country with over 2,000 ethnic groups --and its shared norms with respect to governance and development.
Planning Commission deputy chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia, president of Confederation of Indian Industry Hari S Bhartia and social entrepreneur Brij Kothari will also take part in the discussion.
In the second session, Chidambaram will delve into how India is doing with more than half of its population working in agriculture and how India's global growth story will be determined by the way the country manages its rural-roots.
ICICI Bank managing director and chief executive officer Chanda Kochhar and secretary general of Amnesty International, UK, Salil Shetty will also participate the discussion.
French President Nicolas Sarkozy, British prime minister David Cameron and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev are among the 30 heads of state who will take part in the Davos meet.
