Home Minister P Chidambaram Friday expressed concern over the situation in Gujarat where some senior police officers alleged victimisation by the state government, and said the central government can step in only if the concerned officer wants it.
“Yes, it is a matter of concern,” the home minister answering a question on the situation in the state.
"Rules do provide for the central government to take certain steps at a certain stage. But it all depends on the concerned officer to invoke the situation," Chidambaram said.
"Let that situation come, then this government will decide," he added.
