The proceedings will begin at the special court for riot cases in the old high court building. Sources said the accused in Naroda Patia case, in which 83 people were killed, would be summoned on Tuesday.
The main charge-sheet in the case was filed way back in 2002. Sources said the charge-sheet has been filed against 15 people, accusing them of being part of the riotous mob.
Sources said the charges would also be framed in Naroda gaam riot case on August 7. Eleven people were butchered to death in Naroda gaam in the communal riots that rocked the state in 2002.
Charges in Gulberg society case are likely to be framed on August 6.
Earlier, the SIT had filed a 400-page charge-sheet against 15 accused, now in police custody, in the metropolitan court in relation to the carnage.
It had declared nine other accused, including a former and a present BJP member of the AMC, a former Congress corporator and a senior leader of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, as absconders.
A frenzied mob had attacked the Gulberg Society in Chamnapura locality on February 28, 2002, and burnt at least 37 people alive.
Among those killed was a former Congress member of the Lok Sabha, Ahesan Jafri, while at least 85 people were injured in the riot.
Several former residents of the Gulberg Society are still in the 'missing' list, but are believed to have been killed.
Mitesh Amin, the special prosecutor in riot cases, said, "Charges would be framed for Gulberg society carnage and Naroda Gaam cases on August 6 and 7 respectively."
