A Chadar was offered today at the tomb of Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti here on behalf of prime minister Manmohan Singh, who said that the legacy of the Sufi saint who propagated tolerance, peace and love "is more relevant in today's strife torn world, than ever before".

Union ministers Prithviraj Chauhan, Mahadev Khandela and Sachin Pilot and local MLAs presented the holy blanket on the occasion of the 797th Urs and offered prayers for peace and prosperity in the country.

"A person who possesses the kindness of the sun and the humility of the earth is closest to God. Anybody who sees beauty in poverty, contentment in hunger, cheer and friendliness in hostility is the noblest. These are values that Hazarat Khawaja Moinuddin Chisti espoused more than 900 years ago," the prime minister said in his message.

"The annual Urs of Khawaja Gharib Nawaz should be an occasion to spread the message of tolerance, peace and love that all the great Sufi and Bhakti saints stood for," he added.
