The CBI believe that politicians and police officers in Rajasthan are complicit in the Tulsi Prajapati fake encounter case. The agency may question politicians and police officials in Rajasthan and the investigation could bring many new faces in the five-year-old controversy.

Prajapati was a key witness in the Sohrabuddin encounter case and was shot dead in an “encounter” by a special operation group of Banaskantha Police in 2006. At the time, the CID, which was probing the Sohrabuddin case, was trying to reach out to him for recording a statement.

Sources in CBI said that the agency has already collected a series of primary evidences to prove the connection between Tulsi encounter and the conspiracy from Rajasthan. Sources close to the development said that the CBI is set to proceed with the investigations, which it had started even before arresting deputy commissioner of police Abhay Chudasma.

CBI, however, is awaiting orders from the apex court to continue with the Prajapati investigations.

Source said that CBI, through the investigation of a larger conspiracy for the Prajapati murder case is all set to nab the allegedly responsible political leaders and police officials in Rajasthan.

As per the statement of Azam Khan, a gangster from Sohrabuddin’s gang, who had given a statement to CBI, Gulabchand Kataria, the home minister of Rajasthan and Om Mathur, the in-charge of Gujarat BJP at the time, had contacted Amit Shah to eliminate Sohrabuddin.

However, Tulsi was the sole witness to his elimination and was also killed with the help of Rajathan cops. CBI had recorded the statements of police officials in Rajasthan and had even recorded the statements of people who were present last with Prajapati..

“He had already shown a fear of his death in a fake encounter,” a CBI source said.
