CBI registers cases against education body for irregularities

The officials of Northern Regional Committee granted recognition to private courses even though the institutes did not have adequate land, building, infrastructure.

The CBI has registered seven cases against officials of Northern Regional Committee (NRC), Jaipur and six institutions for their alleged involvements in serious malpractices and gross irregularities while granting permission for commencing some courses.

The cases have been registered cases against AS Rana, regional director, SS Rana, under secretary, Anil Kumar, section officer and Chetan Mishra, Steno working with NRC, a body under National Council of Technical Education, CBI sources said.

Rajasthan based institutions Shivalik Public School Samiti, Kota, Adinath Shikshan Sansthan and Samudayik Shiksha Parsar Samiti, Udaipur, Prince Public School Sansthan, Sikar, Maharishi Sandipani Teacher Training College and Kumari Laxmi Badhla Education and Research Institute, Jaipur have been also named in the FIR, they said.

"The allegations are that the Regional Head and other officials of NRC-Jaipur while granting recognition to the Private Institutions for commencing BEd, DEd and MEd courses during the year 2007 and 2008 indulged in serious malpractices and gross irregularities in connivance with the owners of private Institutions," a CBI spokesperson said here today.

The officials of Northern Regional Committee granted recognition to private courses even though the institutes did not have adequate land, building, infrastructure and were failing in fulfilling the required criteria laid down in the Act, the spokesperson said.

The private Institutions submitted false and forged documents while pursuing their applications for grant of recognition for different courses, he said.

CBI conducted searches today at the residential premises of NRC officials, owners of private institutions and also at the private institutions at 13 places spread over four states -- Rajasthan, Delhi, Gujarat and Orissa.

Searches have resulted in recovery of incriminating documents such as false or forged sale deeds, affidavits, title deeds, land conversion certificates and rubber stamps among others, the official said.
