The budget session of the Uttarakhand assembly beginning in Dehradun on Monday is likely to be stormy with chief minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank on Sunday dismissing as 'false' allegations of Congress that the state government was showing slackness in spending central funds.

Ahead of the session, leader of the opposition Harak Singh Rawat has attacked the government for allegedly not utilising funds of the centrally funded schemes saying the Congress will take up the issue in the House.

"The propaganda that we have not been able to spend funds of the centrally sponsored schemes is false. I want to make it clear that we utilised more funds than the previous Congress government," Nishank told reporters.

He said his government had spent Rs9229.42 crore out of the total Rs10,913.98 crore sanctioned so far under these schemes.

On the other hand, he claimed that the previous Congress government could spend Rs5299.56 crore from the total sanctioned money of Rs5578.76 crore in its five-year tenure of 2002-07.

"Our performance is far better than that of Congress. Why Congress is making false allegations. Instead of holding rallies in Dehradun, it is better for Congress leaders to hold rally in New Delhi," Nishank said.

Nishank also denied allegations of Congress about discrimination to certain pockets or districts.

"Be it Tehri or any other place, all are equal before us," he said.

Meanwhile, the Congress is organising a rally on March 15 to "expose the failure of the government".
