Boy in Delhi dies after coming in contact with live wire

A 12-year-old boy died of electrocution in Seema Puri area of northeast Delhi. Mohammed Shakeel died yesterday after he came in contact with an electricity wire on the road, police said, adding the work on installation of street lights was going on in the area.

"Shakeel was going back to his house. As he jumped to cross the divider, he fell down and came in contact with the naked wire," a senior police official said. He said a case under section 304A (negligence) was registered at the Seema Puri police station against unknown persons.

The official said that police was probing the role of the contractor as well as the engineer. The PWD is carrying out replacement of streetlights in the area.
