A BSF porter was feared killed, while his associate was rescued after they came under a landslide near the Line of Control in Kupwara district, a police spokesman said today.
    
The porters identified as Farooq Ahmad Sangoo and Yaqoob Piswal, who were working with the 152nd battalion BSF, came under a landslide at Nag Post in Keran sector, 145 km from here in north Kashmir, last evening, the spokesman said.
    
He said rescue parties immediately swung into action and rescued Piswal, a resident of Warson village of Kralpora but failed to locate Sangoo.
   
The fate of Sangoo, a resident of Patro village of Keran, was not known and is feared killed, the spokesman adding efforts are on to retrieve his body.
   
The upper reaches of Kashmir valley, especially the areas near the LoC in Kupwara and Bandipora districts witnessed heavy snowfall on Thursday and Friday, prompting authorities to issue a warning to residents to avoid slopes in view of the threat of avalanches and landslides.
