Blast outside Indian mission in Kabul a 'sad incident': Congress

Congress today described the suicide bombing outside the Indian Embassy building in Kabul as a "sad incident", saying such attacks hit the morale of those engaged in reconstruction work in Afghanistan.

"It is a sad incident. India is involved in reconstruction work in the country. Such incidents affect the morale of the people who are engaged in reconstruction and development," party spokesman Shakeel Ahmed told reporters. He said India was doing a great job in Afghanistan and such incidents should not take place.

"It was for the security personnel of that country to prevent such incidents and ensure that it does not happen," Ahmed said.

Asked whether reconstruction work would be affected in Afghanistan as this was the second blast targeting the Indian mission in Kabul since July last year, Ahmed said "reconstruction was a national commitment".
