'They have done no wrong. They only exposed corruption,' Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj said on Twitter.
With its two former MPs and LK Advani's former aide Sudheendra Kulkarni granted bail in cash-for-votes scam, the BJP Wednesday vowed not to rest till the "whistleblowers" are cleared by the court.
"I am happy Shri Faggan Singh Kulaste, Mahavir Bhagora and Sudheendra Kulkarni have been directed to be released on bail. They have done no wrong. They only exposed corruption," Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj said on Twitter.
Swaraj, her Rajya Sabha counterpart Arun Jaitley and senior party leader LK Advani had visited Kulaste and Bhagora - both ex-MPs- and Kulkarni in jail to express solidarity with them. The three were granted bail along with two other accused by the Delhi High Court.
Advani had even said in Parliament on the last day of the monsoon session that if the MPs were guilty, he too was guilty and should be sent to jail as he was Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha when the sting operation to expose the cash-for-vote scam in 2008 was conducted.
He admitted that he was aware that a sting operation is being conducted.
Swaraj stated today that the party will stand by its MPs and Kulkarni.
"We will not rest only with this. We will fight till they are honourably exonerated by the Court," she said.
Advani had said he decided to take out his yatra for good governance and clean politics after the arrest of these "whistle-blower" MPs.
BJP Rajya Sabha MP Balbir Punj said the party will extend full legal support to them.
"We are going to raise the issue in Parliament that bribe givers go free while those who have exposed and refused to take bribe are punished," Punj said.
