It’s almost 18 months for the state assembly elections but the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has already started questioning arch rivals Congress on prime issues of corruption and inflation.

BJP has already upped its ante to assure Narendra Modi bags a hat-trick in the legislative assembly. He has been in power since 2002. He had taken over the reins of the party in the state from Keshubhai Patel in 2001.

Current issues like Anna Hazare’s stand on the Lokpal Bill and Congress’ coercive steps against yoga guru Baba Ramdev will help the ruling party launch a scathing attack on the corruption scandal-hit Congress.

Sources in the BJP said, “We will continue our drive to expose Congress on corruption, black money and inflation by holding various programmes in the state in the next few months."

The party, under the guidance of state president RC Faldu, sat for satyagraha on Monday to protest against the crackdown on Baba Ramdev’s yoga shivir at Ramlila grounds in Delhi. CM Modi had already come out with strong words against the Congress on Sunday.

Faldu, while talking to DNA, said, “The issue of corruption concerns the common man and he wants a solution. This is the start of war and we will continue it as one of the most important agendas.”

Meanwhile, IK Jadeja, spokesperson of the party said, “BJP will organise dharnas at all major cities and towns under senior party leaders.”

He added, “The Congress should apologise for committing such inhuman acts on Baba Ramdev and his followers.”
