Singh spent about 30 minutes with Bhagwat and discussed several issues related to BJP and its future, sources said. RSS Joint general secretary Suresh Soni was also present during the meeting between the two leaders. Later Soni and Singh held another round of discussions.

Singh is completing his tenure as president on December 31. The party is already in the process of choosing its office-bearers beginning with the local level.

Today's meeting assumes significance in the light of Bhagwat's statements in an interview last week where he revealed that BJP had informed him of Arun Jaitley, Sushma Swaraj, M Venkaiah Naidu and Ananth Kumar not being in the list of probable candidates for party president. He also said the new president would not be from Delhi.

The issue of LK Advani relinquishing the post of Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha in the near future also figured in today's meeting between Singh and Bhagwat, sources said.
