BJP MLA held in 2002 riot case

The BJP MLA from Rajgadh (in Dahod), Fatehsinh Chauhan, was arrested by the Devgadh Baria police on Monday for his alleged involvement in the 2002 riots. Chauhan was taken into custody after he surrendered before the police.

The MLA is accused of having a hand in the rioting that took place in nearly 20 villages located on the border of the Panchmahal and Dahod districts. During investigation after the riots, a case was registered against him  but the MLA managed to evade arrest. His anticipatory bail application was rejected by the Godhra sessions court as well as by the Gujarat high court.
