A five-member BJP central team undertook a 3-day visit to border areas in Arunachal Pradesh to assess the situation in view of China's claims on the territory and reported intrusions by it.

The team was led by former Uttarakhand chief minister Bhagat Singh Khusiary, MP, and comprised BJP national spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Ruddy and Rajen Sushan (both MPs), Nirmal Singh, J&K state unit chief and Tapir Gao, national secretary, according to a release by the state unit of the party today.

It visited Tawang, Lumla, Zemithang and Bumla located closed to Sino-India border in the past 72 hours and interacted with the local people to study and assess the ground level situation.

In the  second phase the team is scheduled to visit to Leh and  Ladhak areas  in J & K and Rajasthan in April, the release said.

Thereafter the team will submit its report to party high command which will take it up with the UPA government for action, it added.

Khusiary expressed satisfaction over the interaction with the people and expressed his gratitude to them for their cooperation during the visit.
