BJP accuses Pakistan govt of not making strong case against Hafiz Saeed

Describing JuD chief Hafiz Saeed as the ISI's "errand boy", main opposition BJP today accused the Pakistan government of not building a strong case against the Mumbai terror attack accused, saying it had led to his release from house arrest.

"Pakistan government did not submit proper documents, including the dossiers given by India, and failed to build a
strong case against Hafiz Saeed," BJP spokesperson Ravi
Shankar Prasad said.

An appeal by Pakistani authorities for extending the house arrest of Saeed was dismissed today by the country's Supreme Court.

Saeed, also a founder of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), was
put under house arrest in Islamabad in December 2008, soon
after the Mumbai terror attack, when UN security council
declared JuD a front of the LeT.

"It is well-known that Saeed and Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi (JuD operations chief) are errand boys of ISI and if they are arrested, they would spill the beans," Prasad said when asked why Saeed was allowed to walk free.

India has alleged that both Saeed and Lakhvi are the masterminds of the 26/11 attack in Mumbai. It also submitted
to Pakistan dossiers on involvement of the two in the attack
and demanded that the neighbouring country should take action
against them.
