Bikers strike in Satellite

A retired man travelling along with his daughter was robbed of Rs8 lakh in the Satellite area while in another incident a man was robbed of Rs10.50 lakh in Ghatlodia.

The notorious biker gang has struck again. This time, in two separate incidents, the gang robbed victims of cash to the tune of Rs18 lakh.

In one incident, a retired man travelling along with his daughter was robbed of Rs8 lakh in the Satellite area while in another incident a man was robbed of Rs10.50 lakh in Ghatlodia. In the first incident, one Arunlal Patel a resident of 17 Kapil bungalows near Jodhpur gaam road was robbed of the money, which he had withdrawn from Axis Bank near Law garden.

According to police sources, Patel and his daughter Jigna were on their way from Axis Bank in Law Garden after withdrawing Rs8 lakh. The money was to be given as a down payment for a bungalow that Jigna was going to buy in the same area.

The duo travelled in a rickshaw till their residence. However, as soon as they got down, two men on a bike snatched the bag with the cash that Arunlal had with him and fled. Incidentally, the duo tried to chase the bikers but the accused manage to escape.

Confirming that the biker gang was involved in the robbery, Satellite police inspector MH Vasani said, "The accused were just a few feet away from the home of the victims. As soon as they got an opportunity they snatched the bag and fled with the money." 

In the second incident, Kamlesh Patel, a resident of Ghatlodia was robbed of Rs10.50 lakh near the Neelkanth Mahadev Menarav hall.  According to police sources, Patel had withdrawn money from the Kalupur commercial bank in Usmanpura in the name of his father-in-law Natubhai Patel.  However, his scooter developed a snag midway after which he took another two-wheeler and reached the hall.

 Patel who is in the business of decorating marriage halls went inside the Menarav hall but he kept the bag containing the cash in his scooter. When Patel returned, he found the bag missing. He was told by a witness that two people on a bike had escaped with the cash. Ghatlodia police is investigating the matter.
