Bihar chief minister expresses grief at death of journalist

Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar today expressed profound shock and grief at the demise of prominent journalist PK Krupakarn and declared state funeral in his respect.

Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar today expressed profound shock and grief at the demise of prominent journalist PK Krupakarn and declared state funeral in his respect.

"His death is a personal loss for me...His contribution in the field of journalism will always be remembered", Kumar said in his condolence message.

He declared state funeral as mark of respect for the departed scribe.

Krupakaran who worked for Indian Express for forty years died here yesterday after protracted illness.

Working for the Indian Express for over 40 years, he had to his credit covering the 1971 Bangladesh War and Jayaprakash Narayan's Sampurna Kranti Movement during the emergency.

He used to cover three states -- Bihar, Andhra Pradesh and Orissa.

Krupakaran is survived by two daughters and son K Balchand who is also a journalist.
