Bihar assembly was today adjourned thrice in the pre-lunch session when opposition leaders created noisy scenes demanding CBI inquiry into the alleged excise scam.

As soon as the house assembled for the day, deputy leader in the house and RJD MLA Shakeel Ahmed Khan and CPI-M leader Ram Deo Verma raised the issue relating to alleged irregularities in the excise department and moved an adjournment motion seeking debate on the issue.

The adjournment motion was accepted by the speaker Uday Narayan Chowdhary after Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's brief
intervention on the issue saying the state government was
ready for the debate.

Opposition leaders charged the state government with trying to cover up the irregularities in which they alleged officials in the CM secretariat were also involved.

Khan said nothing short of a CBI probe into the irregularities would reveal the truth relating to the scam.

As the din continued unabated, Chowdhary adjourned the house till after the lunch for taking up debate on the adjournment motion.
