In yet another drive on city warehouses and wholesale traders, the city supply department initiated search in Big Bazaar located near Iscon circle and seized unaccounted stock of sugar worth Rs6.5 lakh. The civil supply department has taken action against the mall authorities as it has not procured license to stock sugar with stipulated limit. They also consider the big mall within the 'trader' category.

According to officials sources, the officers of the department raided the mall on Wednesday evening and found 14,500 kilogram sugar worth Rs6.51 lakh, when as per rules a trader can't preserve stock of more then 2,500 killogrammes.

The sources further said that, the mall authorities neither had license to preserve the stock more then the statutory limit nor had bills of purchase. Therefore the in charge of the mall has been booked under the statutory law to preserve sugar stock more then stipulated limit.
