“One should not continue in the field after being humiliated and made to feel unwanted. I have served with dedication and devotion in politics for over 40 years. I am deeply hurt that today I am being humiliated with malicious allegations of corruption. I am being made to feel as an unwanted man within my own party,” Yeddyurappa said addressing a convention in Shimoga.
The hints of retirement have come when his loyalists are preparing to organise a mega public rally to show his strength in Hubli on March 11.
Yeddyurappa, who was kept out of a similar convention of Panchamasali community held in Gokak a month ago, turned emotional as he said he was feeling unwanted and would not like to continue for too long in his profession.
He refused to react to leader of opposition in legislative assembly Siddaramaiah’s statement that he (BSY) had lost his mental balance. “I will not respond to his comments now. It deserves a reply in a different language. I will do that at an appropriate time,” he said.
Meanwhile, BJP state president KS Eshwarappa has taken serious exception to Siddaramaiah’s comments and said it would be better if Siddaramaiah concentrates on sorting out the infighting within Congress.
Chief minister DV Sadananda Gowda denied reports of Yeddyurappa keeping away from campaigning for Chikmagalur-Udupi Lok Sabha by-poll. “Yeddyurappa will participate in the campaigning and ensure victory for the BJP candidate,” he said. “We will face the by-poll under a collective leadership and there is no crisis in the party,” he said.
