Bahujan Samaj Party to set up legal cell

The party's national general secretary Satish Chandra Misra will be the head of the full-fledged legal cell, Uttar Pradesh chief minister and Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati said.

Uttar Pradesh chief minister and Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati today announced setting up a full-fledged legal cell in her party with BSP general secretary Satish Chandra Misra as its head.
    
"The BSP founder Kanshi Ram had warned that when the party's popularity would grow, opposition parties would try all the tricks to drag it in courts to defame it. Therefore we have decided to set up an all-India legal cell," she announced at a rally here to mark the silver jubilee of BSP's formation.
   
The party's national general secretary Satish Chandra Misra will be its head, she added.
    
The BSP chief also announced the names of the leaders who would be looking after the task of bringing upper castes in the party fold, the work which was being looked after by Misra through the "bhaichara committees" till now.
    
On Misra, she said a canard was being spread that he had lost favours in the party.
    
Despite the new responsibility given to him today there was no "laxman rekha" on him, and his services would be taken in any task in party's interest, she said, adding though his prime responsibility would be looking after legal functions.
