A Delhi court today directed Tihar jail authorities to keep Chief of terrorist organisation Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) Jagtar Singh Hawara, facing life term in assassination case of Punjab chief minister Beant Singh, in a high-security prison.

Hawara, till now lodged at Chandigarh jail, was brought to the national capital following a production warrant issued against him on October 20.

Chief metropolitan magistrate Vinod Yadav sent him to judicial custody as he is wanted in a couple of cases here and asked the Tihar jail authorities to lodge him in a high-security cell.

"Considering the fact that he is a hardened criminal and is a high-risk convict in the case of murder of Beant Singh, the then chief minister of Punjab, superintendent jail is directed to keep the convict in a high-security cell," the court said.

The proceedings of the court were held in the lock-up due to security risk.

Hawara, also accused of escaping after breaking the Burail jail, in Punjab, is wanted here in a case relating to twin blasts at Satyam and Liberty cinema halls on May 22, 2005.
