Currently, narrow and dusty roads in Bopal have become a headache for residents.
It seems, Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA) has finally blessed Bopal with its interest in developing the area. Newly appointed chairman Dharmendra Shah has chalked out a plan to give Bopal better infrastructure — a wide four-lane road apart from basic civic amenities.
If the buzz in the civic body is anything to go by, Shah has been asked to prepare a plan to construct a four-lane road -- from Bopal cross-roads to the highway at Bopal's entry point. This means, within a year's time citizens will get to drive in the four-lane road from Iscon circle to Bopal cross-road. The expenditure for the four-lane road is expected to be around Rs2.48 crore.
"Currently, we are developing a two-lane road from Bopal cross-roads to the highway. We plan to lay storm water drainage line along the two-lane road and then develop an additional two-lane road there," said a senior AUDA official. The work to lay storm water line towards Bopal is in progress and it might take one year to complete, believe officials.
Currently, narrow and dusty roads in Bopal have become a headache for residents. "Driving on Bopal roads is almost like riding a camel. Bumpy, dusty and encroached roads pose a serious threat for commuters and sometimes lead to serious accidents. It will be a great favour if AUDA can provide us with 4-lane road to decongest roads and save commuting time," said DP Dave, a resident of Bopal.
While the announcement of better road connectivity brings cheers for Bopal residents they also hope that the work will be completed fast. "We hope that the four-lane road is a serious proposal and not just lip service," said a Bopal resident, Maganbhai Thakkar.
