The CID (Crime) which is investigating Tulsiram Prajapati fake encounter case on Sunday took the accused policemen to the crime scene for reconstruction of the sequence of events leading to the gunning down of Prajapati. The accused who were taken to the spot included Dahod superintendent of police (SP) Vipul Aggarwal who had been arrested earlier.

With Aggarwal were the other accused, including police constables Vinod Amrutlal and Jethusinh Darbar. Till now, six police personnel have been arrested by the CID (Crime) in Prajapati case.

CID sources confirmed the development. They said that the policemen were taken to the spot so that the way Prajapati was shot dead could become more clear.

A reliable source said, “All the accused were taken to the spot where Prajapati was shot. Minute details like the way in which Prajapati was shot and the chain of events that followed were reconstructed.”

Prajapati is believed to be the sole witness in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter that took place in November 2005.

He was believed to be travelling with Sheikh and his wife Kausar Bi when they were picked up by the state police. Prajapati was shot dead on Ambaji-Abu Road in December 2006 by a team comprising cops from Banaskantha and Rajasthan.

When contacted, investigating officer deputy superintendent of police, RK Patel, said: “We took all the accused to Ambaji-Abu Road, where the incident took place, to reconstruct the events that took place on the day when the encounter happened. This is part of the investigation.”

Officials also said that videography of the entire reconstruction was done by sleuths of CID (Crime). Sources said that the entire process initiated today would be treated as ‘panchnama’ evidence.

The CID’s reconstruction of events assumes significance considering the fact that CBI is investigating the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case which has a close link with the Prajapati encounter case. It is believed that the leads in the Prajapati encounter case will help the CBI.

DNA had earlier reported that CID (Crime) teams are hunting for ATS inspector Ashish Pandya, who had allegedly fired at Prajapati. Pandya was then a sub inspector with SOG, Banaskantha police.

CBI grills Jadeja’s children
The CBI investigating the Sohrabuddin Sheikh encounter case has interrogated two children of CID (Crime) inspector PB Jadeja, who allegedly acted as an aide to transfer funds in the name of suspended IPS officer Abhay Chudasama. According to sources, CBI sleuths interrogated Vikrant and Vidhi, the children of inspector Jadeja who allegedly transferred unaccounted money, mostly extortion money on behalf of Chudasama.

Last week, the CBI had recovered gold worth around Rs11 lakh from the residence of KB Jadeja, the brother of inspector Jadeja. The CBI sleuths had also come upon a bank locker in the name of KB Jadeja with gold deposited in it. The recovery was made during a raid in Surendranagar. Sources said that this was the extortion money sent by Chudasama.
