Assam tribal outfits' leaders may also come out of jails

Close on the heels of ULFA 'chairman' Arabinda Rajkhowa walking free, the government may facilitate release of incarcerated top leaders of Assam's tribal insurgent groups NDFB and DHD by not opposing their bail applications to pave way for peace dialogue.

NDFB chief Ranjan Daimary and DHD leaders Jewel Garlosa and Niranjan Hojai may be out of judicial custody soon as the government is unlikely to oppose their bail applications when it comes up for hearing.

Top ULFA leaders, including Rajkhowa, have been released from jail recently after Assam government did not oppose their bail application -- ostensibly to facilitate their participation in peace dialogue.

Both NDFB and DHD have expressed readiness to engage in parleys to bring in solution to their demands.

Chief minister Tarun Gogoi also has said recently that the NDFB has sent a letter expressing its desire to take part in peace negotiation.

BPF, the coalition partner of Assam's ruling Congress, has also requested Gogoi to do the needful for the release of jailed NDFB leaders to facilitate peace talks.
