A consumer disputes redressal forum in Thrissur has recalled its arrest warrant against Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Group of Industries after the company deposited with it Rs25,000 as fine amount.

"The forum recalled the arrest warrant yesterday as Reliance Communications deposited Rs25,000, which includes interest, after they moved a petition to recall the warrant issued on December 16," company lawyer KS Ravisankar said.

The Thrissur Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum had passed the order on a petition by one Joseph Makkolil who had purchased a mobile, which promised various features, from a Reliance retail outlet in 2003 by paying Rs10,000.

The case was filed in 2005 when Mukesh Ambani was the Managing Director of Reliance Infocomm.

The complainant alleged that the manufacturer had failed to observe certain terms and conditions stated and approached the forum for damages.

The forum had directed Reliance to pay a fine of Rs24,000 to Makkoli on October 30, 20l0 within two months.

After it failed to do so, an execution petition was filed on which the arrest warrant was issued on December 16.
