The shocking emails by terror outfits on Friday evening warning of "cruel" attacks on Ahmedabad have put several schools on alert. The usage of the word cruel has been interpreted as being a threat to schools. Many schools across the city have beefed up
security.

The police, however, are taking care not to spread unnecessary panic. At the same time they are taking all measures to avoid an unwanted incident. Most of the schools have either increased their security guards or are trying to install CCTV cameras. The police has sensitised many about security measures.

The managing trustee of HB Kapadia School, Muktak Kapadia said the school was concerned about security and had taken all relevant measures in this connection. The school has doubled its security staff. An SRP police team of three cops has also been assigned a point near the school.

"We want the presence of uniformed vigilant police across the city which will create fear among the miscreants," commissioner of police, Ahmedabad city, Sudhir Sinha told DNA. Sinha, however, said that there is no specific threat to schools, but the police don't want to take any chances and are taking all measures to avoid a terror attack.

However, some schools are also concerned about spreading unnecessary panic among the kids. "Even though we want to increase security measures, we don't want policemen with guns standing outside our school campus. This will increase panic among the kids," the principal of Kum Kum School, Maninagar, Mahesh Thakkar said.

The school had earlier conducted several seminars on how to react in a panic situation. The school has trained its students to vacate the school premises through its different gates in three minutes.

Principal of Delhi Public School, Kul Bhushan Kain said that the school had an absolutely safe and secure surrounding. "No unauthorised person is allowed in the school and we maintain a record of all teaching and non-teaching staff on a daily basis," he said. The local police are also meeting school authorities in their respective areas.
