Taking serious exception to an incident in the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) office here during which a youth leader pulled a gun on his colleague, party chief Lalu Prasad today disbanded the national and state youth wings.

"The national and state-level youth wings stand disbanded with immediate effect," Prasad announced at a hurriedly convened press conference at the RJD office here. "Rowdy elements will not not be tolerated in the party."

He also announced cancellation of the proposed national convention of the Yuva RJD to be held at SK Memorial Auditorium on June 9.

Prasad also announced the setting up of a three-member fact-finding committee comprising state RJD president Abdul Bari Siddiqui, national general secretary Ram Kripal, and Alok Mehta and asked them to submit a report within a week.

Condemning the incident when youth wing national general secretary Dhananjaya Sharma today pulled a gun on president Alok Mehta and his supporters over a trivial issue, Prasad said indiscipline would not be tolerated in the party.

"I have identified all such elements who have brought disrepute to the party at the national and state levels and all of them will be shown the door," the RJD boss said.

Describing the leaders involved in the fracas as 'rowdy elements', Prasad admitted that the incident had damaged the party's image in an election year.

Prasad refused to take any questions from the reporters present at the press conference, saying that he had said whatever he had to say.

The incident took place after Sharma protested against the missing photographs of state Yuva RJD chief Satish Paswan on banners and posters for the June 9 convention of the youth wing.

Senior RJD leader Ram Kripal Yadav, a close aide of Prasad, was witness to the incident and complained to the party in this regard.
